Interactions with artificial humans

Soon, when we need various services, many of us will interact frequently with non-human agents – such as robots and chatbots. The research project Interactions with Artificial Humans explores how we humans react to (humanlike) non-human agents. “Humanlike” means that the non-human agent somehow resembles a real human; for example, it has a humanlike face and body, and/or it communicates in natural language.

The main rationale behind this project is that a better understanding of human reactions to non-human agents would facilitate the transition to a setting in which we spend more and more time interacting with such agents. Interactions with Artificial Humans is an academic research project, so a main form of output is studies for academic journals. The idea, however, is that there should also be other forms of output.
